On a side note, there was a post posted by a fellow blogger that I thought was so good I had to share it with you, its worth reading all about some amazing home resources (some that I was not famliar with) its a very thorough post with tons of great pictures! Plus its a wonderful newer blog worth knowing about! Click below to see the post.

How nice that Sunday is here!  I plan to take full advantage and and take it nice and slow. I am going to have my second cup of coffee, not be too quick to get up and go and just relax a bit. We have had a lot of rain, and it is another gray and drizzly morning, perfect for lingering. Our house tour starts in the beautiful untouched resort area of Kiawah Island, South Carolina then moves to the gorgeous bluegrass state of Kentucky and finally settles onto idyllic Potomac, Maryland by the river. Three gorgeous residences, each with their own unique style and personality. Would love to know if you have a favorite! Hope whatever you do today is wonderful and relaxing........

KIAWAH ISLAND, SOUTH CAROLINA  Gorgeous sprawling family compound....love the tall gabled roofs, the open and airy spaces. This is the ultimate family getaway home. I like how lots of wood was used in the interiors to create a warm, cozy and cohesive feel. The setting is secluded and lush with magnificent water views that beckon from virtually every window. I would be very happy to call his a family vacation house...love the openness yet the spaces are grand and elegant. What a fabulous home to entertain in. Step inside!

LEXINGTON, KENTUCKY. This opulent mansion is set on a sprawling horse farm and was lavishly decorated and inspired by an authentic 17th century English country home. It is majestically situated on 11 award winning picturesque acres including formal gardens and bronze statuary scattered throughout. This is an entertainers dream, a very grand home indeed. The home was constructed with the finest materials and  is a modest 24,000 square feet :) Plenty of places to hide! Come on in and see what you think.......

POTOMAC, MARYLAND. This beautiful, quiet and serene home on the lazy Potomac River is just the kind of home you imagine to be the perfect weekend getaway. And that is exactly what it is, and what a getaway "cottage" it is! Situated on a picturesque waterfront lot that was originally part of  George Washington's farm, it has a tremendous amount of history and the fabulous architecture from 1916 is in keeping with this important connection to the past. The recently renovated interiors by William Hodgins were kept light and soft, open and airy to take advantage of the river views and fresh air. I think he achieved it with remarkable success.

Well there you have it! Do you have a favorite? If you had to pack up for a weekend getaway, would it be clear which you would choose? Hope whatever you are doing today is relaxing and above all else, exactly what you want to be doing! Enjoy your day!
