Celebrating Ten

For our ten year anniversary celebration, we left the littles with my parents and packed up for a Serenbe getaway.  On our way out of town, Sister was a complete doll to capture these pictures of us...just the two of us just being a couple.

Our whole family was head over heels for our wedding cake (and Sister’s less than a year later) and I could hardly believe that Mother and Daddy-O were able to orchestrate procuring a “top layer” for our tenth.  The cake was made by Savannah personality (that word hardly does her justice) Mollie Stone (don’t waste your time searching for her website, there isn’t one).  My  parents have known her for ages and she’s pretty much legendary behind the moss curtain.  The story of ordering my cake from Mollie is one for another day…essentially you get what you get and you don’t have a fit.  Throw those Martha Stewart Weddings pictures right out the window and prepare to have your socks knocked off at first bite of the grande dame of Savannah’s wedding cake.  The almond flavor…the only flavor really…is sheer perfection and one I will forever have ingrained on my taste buds.  I mean, she even made Paula Deen’s wedding cake for crying out loud!  But I digress…I surprised Honey with a Mollie Stone cake and it was every bit as divine as we remembered.  I made a sweet little bunting with our custom monogram from Savannah’s Number Four Eleven (store / blog) and two “10”s.  We had a grand time cutting the cake and toasting with the very same sterling knife and goblets used at our wedding!

May 2012 362 copy May 2012 370 cop2y We exchanged gifts and were completely floored that we both chose the oyster to celebrate our anniversary.  Rather than a card, I wrapped Honey’s gift with eleven balloons, each denoting my favorite memory from our ten years together and the last recognizing “today and forever”.  Inside was the Sid Mashburn oyster shell buckle and belt strap

May 2012 265 copy After our cake, champagne and pictures, we were on our way.  Not in the horse drawn carriage that we departed in ten years ago, but in Honey’s Jeep that I surprise decorated for the occasion!!!  May 2012 407 copy May 2012 404 copy2  May 2012 413 cop2y  May 2012 438 cop2y May 2012 449 cop2y And on our way out of town we talked about our years together and released our balloons – one by one until they were too tangled in knots to separate.

Next stop…Serenbe!
