A Little Pre-Fall Mantel Fix-Up

I posted earlier today on the winner of the giveaway but also wanted to do a quick post of a little mantel fix up.

I told you earlier in the week that I am doing a little pre-fall prettying up.  I also told you that I am trying to add some touches of blues and reds here and there.

I decided to bring my beautiful 1953 American Walking Horse Trophy from my bedroom into my living room so it would be a little more visible.

I brought my one and only demi-john in from the dining room and pulled out some books that were different shades of blues and reds.

I ended up with this simple pre-fall mantel…

This little white bench, made from what I think was an old ammo box, sits in front of the fireplace to help try to lighten the oak up just a little.

The biggest pillow is just an old sugar sack and the smaller one is the one I showed you the other day that my friend Kim made for me.

I know I shouldn’t be rushing time away, but I really am looking forward to the arrival of fall.  Here in Tennessee, the weather has been so pleasant the last few days that  it has really made me think more and more about the changing of the seasons.  I feel like fall is teasing us just a little bit around here.

Just a reminder to be happy with what you have.

If you have carpeted floors instead of hardwood…embrace the softness.

If you have an oak fireplace instead of white…embrace the fact that dirt doesn’t show on it.

If you have oak kitchen cabinets..embrace the fact that you have a place to put your dishes.

If you live in a traditional brick home instead of a beautiful old farmhouse…embrace the fact  that you can make it be anything you want it to be.

I am thankful!!!
