Are you hearing jingle bells yet? It is hard to wrap my brain around the fact that the holidays are pretty much here, around the corner. One step inside any store, whether it be a local pharmacy or a big dept. store...the holiday buzz is loud and clear. This is typically when my head starts racing about what to buy who, always trying to come up with that one perfect gift, that I never thought of before. Increasingly challenging, wouldn't you agree?

So in light of the gift giving season....I thought it would be fun to consult a number of my super stylish and chic blogging friends about whats on their gift giving lists. Who better to ask for wonderful gift selections that a group that clearly has the stylish factor covered and conquered!  I am delighted to share with you a three part series featuring a group of my super talented blogging friends and what they love to give. I know it certainly gave me some really wonderful ideas and I hope it might do the same for you. So here we go.................part 2 to follow next week!

Take it away ladies........

A pretty throw made of wool or cashmere is perfect for curling up on a cold winter day.   Over bed linens or draped over your favorite chair, throws are a wonderful accessory for a home.  The perfect gift idea for anyone

For the holidays I usually place a group gift under the tree. A game is the perfect gift idea and it will encourage family time, a priority for us.  Games and puzzles are left out during our winter break and family and friends are encouraged to start and stop their games according to the days activities.

The little blue box!  These  phone cases and necklaces are priced well and perfect for any woman.. wife, mother, or daughter

Yes, tis the season for some extra gift giving. Thank goodness for cyberland which comes free of parking headaches, long lines and heavy shopping bags!
A fun shopping destination is always Tina's own shop. I am a loyal customer!
When Tina asked me to highlight two products from my own store, Splendid Avenue, these immediately came to mind.
I am very proud to share that we have just teamed up with Royal Copenhagen, which is behind the most luxurious porcelain in the world. Scandinavian of course. All hand painted. The original Blue Fluted pattern was first produced in Denmark in 1775.

I am already an avid collector and I am one of those boring (!) parents who slowly build collections for my own kids and give on very special occasions. One piece at a time. (They will thank me later! Just like I did with my Mom). Classic designs never go out of style.
And for the young ones, my kids often help me select items for my store. They picked these fun Scandinavian characters. All unique with charm and warmth!

A warm hug to my lovely friend. Thank you for inviting me along. Wishing you and your loyal readers a wonderful holiday season.

In my online boutique, Linen Haus (www.linenhaus.com), I carry products that are hand selected by me in European Antiques Markets.  Because I love the chance to give a one of a kind gift during the holidays, I picked two things from Linen Haus that I think would make an ideal gift.

1.        In my shop I have a very special find from the European Markets:  Six Vintage Villeroy and Boch dessert/appetizer plates, with French calligraphy and beautiful illustrations of luscious fruits.  What a wonderful way to celebrate the holidays with these special accent plates!

2.       Sometimes giving wine is just the right gift, but I like to make it special by attaching something festive to it.  One of these German Christmas ornaments add a special vintage flair, to evoke memories of old-fashioned European holidays gone by!  I’d pair it with a bit of holly or a small fir bough and a big silver ribbon for a festive touch.

I’m headed to Europe shortly to visit the markets, so I’ll be adding more inventory to my shop in the next few weeks.  Please stop by Linen Haus (www.linenhaus.com) when you get a chance to take a look!

If we're being practical, we'd love to give and receive the gorgeous The Houses of Veranda. It's such a stylish and beautiful addition to any coffee table and, even better, provides hours of home-gazing fun.
If we're being a shade less practical, we think everyone should have a fantasy hen house and custom herb and vegetable garden in his or her backyard. We can picture ourselves, tea in hand, strolling in the fresh air to retrieve our fresh eggs from an impeccable -- and sweet smelling, of course -- hen house. Neiman Marcus' latest fantasy gift, the Heritage Hen Mini Farm provides that delusion of grandeur, complete with art and a chandelier for the discerning hen. Now, if only it came with a personal farmhand to keep it fresh and clean...

Thanks so much, Tina, for inviting us to share our Christmas gift ideas! Being featured on one of our favorite sites amongst all your stunning posts is such a treat!

I love giving gifts to my girlfriends, we all know what would delight and charm each other, which makes it so much harder to choose a gift.

This year I will choose a leather wrap bracelet from my shop, splenderosa.com.
The reason is because they are lovely and so fashionable.  We have 4-5 colors so they wouldn't all get the same one (that would be tragic).

These bracelets come in "Hermes" Orange, White, Turquoise & Black
$65 is a super buy for these leather/chain pieces.
And, we have many many different styles available as well.

The 2nd gift would be something which lasts forever.  I love giving items which are eternal, so that when someone sees the piece it will remind them of the giver.  I learned this from my grandmother, the infamous Mom-Mom.  This year the hostess gift we will be taking along with us will be the "Vinturi Wine Aerator."   Pour directly from the bottle into a glass,
so simple, so easy.  Found at Williams-Sonoma for around $40.

I would never dream of arriving at someone's home during the holiday period without a small gift.  I love doing it, and I believe it makes for happy moments of surprises with family & friends.  Oh yes, I over-gift.  I do it because I love doing it.  The Christmas season is when we can all be a child again, do joyful things for everyone and enjoy the moments of giving and loving.   One year, just a couple of days after Thanksgiving weekend,  we took poinsettia to everyone on our list,   They immediately put the homes in a holiday mood.  My kids absolutely hated it though...they were the delivery people!!

Thank you, Tina, for always coming up with something fun for all your readers.

Cheers & Happy Holidays !!!

Giving a gift that is meant to work in someone else's home can be tricky.  We all remember those creative wedding gifts that we didn't register for, right?  Well, the worst thing is to give someone something that isn't quite their taste, that they store in a closet, and feel like they have to bring out whenever you visit! This being said, though, I love giving gifts for the home more than any other kind of gift because, well, I love homes and design.  But I'm always very careful - I wouldn't give someone a rug or a chandelier, for example.  But I would (and do) give small decorative or luxury items that I know just about anyone would like, and would work in any decor.  For example, one of my favorite gifts is this gorgeous decanter by Global Views.  It is functional and just simply beautiful:

My other favorite gift is this set of unique candle holders.  I love that they can sit on a table, be brought outside in warm weather, or even hung from chains like I did in my own kitchen.
They are classic, versatile, and just beautiful:

Thank you so very much, Tina, not only for writing the best blog ever, but for letting me participate in this fabulous post!

The holiday season is always so exciting-invitations for tree trimming and cocktail parties start filling my mailbox the day after Thanksgiving!  These holiday fetes are always fun and festive, with trees dressed to the nines, decadent cocktails, delicious little nibbles and the wonderful company of friends.  I like to bring something that celebrates the season and contributes to the holiday decor.  A whimsical New York taxi ornament from Bergdorf Goodman is the perfect gift for my Gotham friends; an iconic symbol of our city and a celebration of the season!

I'm also partial to the beautiful selection of Fair Trade ornaments at Crate and Barrel. I can't resist the Alpaca Woodland Creature ornaments made by women crafters in rural Peru. They are adorable and do good-you can't go wrong!

Best friends are there for you all year long-they definitely deserve something special around the holidays. My favorite gift for my BFF's is from the British fragrance house Jo Malone; a jar of their decadent English Pear and Freesia body creme is the ultimate indulgence,  pefect for pampering!

Truth be told I LOVE the holidays. I have finished by shopping, am half way done with my wrapping and my Christmas cards arrived last week. (I own it...I have issues.) So I was delighted when one of my best blogging pals Tina asked me to participate in her holiday gift guide. But I could not possibly limit it to just two!

Here are a few of my favorite gifts to give to friends and hosts:

I always love to give something homemade. This recipe for BOOZY OLIVES is always a hit and packaged in a stylish container you can find HERE.

It is always nice to put something under the tree for the host too and a needlepoint FLASK is perfect!

And for the hostess (I like to bring something other than wine or flowers) a festive holiday candle and some custom matches. My favorite holiday scent this year is from THYMES.

And monogram MATCHES

I wrap my gifts in a different theme every year. Here are a few ideas to get you inspired.

Happy holidays to all and thank you Tina for inviting me to join in the fun!
