Inspiration From The Blogasphere Week 9 - Interiors, DIY, Recipes & More

Sorry I didn't get around to posting any Inspiration last week, I've been hectically trying to re-decorate my mums house. It's been extremely difficult as I first had to pack up all mums belongings and now there are dozens of boxes scattered around her house (just not ready to part with them all yet), and were having to work around them which isn't easy.  One bedroom is finished now, it's amazing how a small dark room is now full of light and sunshine. Dark heavy curtains removed, sheer nets removed, flowered wallpaper painted over with two undercoats of white and two top coats of Resene Ricecake has made it a perfect blank canvas for a bit of styling when it comes to putting the house on the market.  I do hope to take some photos to share but still waiting for that elusive DSLR camera, ever hopeful that this Christmas I might be unwrapping one.  I'll stop ranting on now and share this weeks discoveries with you.....

This beautiful interior started out an empty space with heavy dark curtains, however, with the talent of Tobi Fairley who is known as one of the top 20 young designers in the USA, this room has been completely transformed into the stunning interior below.  I love the sunburst mirror, what a fabulous focal point. I also love the way Tobi has created a layering effect by using different patterns. This living area would feel like summer all year round, don't you think!

You can visit the makeover on Tobi's blog and visit Tobi's interior design website "here". Definitely you won't want to miss Tobi's  website  her portfolio is amazing, truly Tobi deserves accolade.

Green and Gold

Another beautiful Spring day today, (ha, ha, those of you heading for winter..."no I didn't really mean that).. I'm full of the joys of Spring and sharing more fresh interiors...

Now for a little DIY...

DIY gilded frames from Jenny Steffen Hobick....full instructions can be found "here"

Create this lovely sweet dish...The Creativity Exchange give easy step by step instructions how to cover a tin bucket using Mod Podge.  A great idea to fill a big bucket for Halloween. I particularly love the fabric used on the bucket below, obviously you can choose any fabric that fits in with your decor.

How about decorating some Spring cupcakes....

These cupcakes were designed by Peggy Porschen

Love this simple idea, bake your cakes in miniature terracotta pots, add a straw and a chrysanthemum and voila! Little white pots would look gorgeous, or add a white ribbon around your terracotta pot.

and for those of you who are now in Fall, I couldn't resist these cute little guys...

If you feel like making some cupcakes you can find a recipe for vanilla cupcakes at Cake Spy.

Ending with a couple of lovely recipes, a Spring and a Fall from Liren at Kitchen Confidante, one of my favourite food bloggers.

Bespoke closet cabinetry by Lefèvre Interiors

As summer holidays are finished and everything is going back to normal, the employees in our workshop are busy preparing and finishing clients’ projects.

I would love to share with you today one of our latest projects we are working on : a bespoke wardrobe closet created from highly durable french oak.

After having discussed the design with our clients, I tried to collect some images for my inspiration (I am sorry to not know the source of them), before starting the design plans of the cabinetry.

A Lefèvre Interiors dressing & new discoveries

I hope you all have enjoyed your weekend as we did here in Belgium. The weather gods spoiled us with some gorgeous late summer days! Up to 27°C! It was one of the warmest weekends of this year! We really aren’t used to these summer temperatures at the start of October! It abled us to face a busy new week!

Today I want to share a few pictures of a client’s dressing and some gorgeous new discoveries.

Dressing Lefèvre Interiors

The dressing room I designed for one of our clients in France, was installed by our company Lefèvre Interiors months ago but I hadn’t had yet the opportunity to take some pictures of it untill last week.

The room acts as a dressing and as a guestroom. The seat can be converted into a bed.

NEW DISCOVERIES

Hermès textiles

7 source www.dedar.com

Hermès is expanding into the home textile world not only with silks, but also with "upholstery-ready signature patterns in cotton, cashmere, wool, and linen".

Hermès teamed up with the Italian firm Dedar to produce these gorgeous textiles.

Expressive horse race scenes in bright colors, elephants in royal regalia, or tone-on-tone abstracted “H”s, and a seemingly hand-drawn herringbone print.

John Stefanidis fabrics

This Autumn John Stefanidis Fabrics launches a seriously chic new stripe ”Promenade”.

It is an elegant, 4 colour stripe with colours that will coordinate with and complement other designs in the John Stefanidis fabric range.

By the way, I want you to know that John Stefanidis, one of my favorite British designers, has a beautiful blog ‘The Developed Eye’, where John writes about his life, his travels, the influences behind his designs for the many houses on which he has worked and his fabric and furniture ranges.

I remember, years ago, I bought his first book, titled ‘Rooms, Design & Decoration’. To me it is still one of the most inspiring books about interior design!

Meanwhile John has written several books (to discover on his website).

If you don’t know yet this talented designer, please visit his website John Stefanidis or start reading his blog The Developed Eye. You will not be disappointed.
