Lillie's Birthday Cake

I've got this one last post here with some random shots and then hopefully after this I will have enough of my more recent photos edited to start posting photos of some of our new products, Jamie's shower and two photo shoots that we've done during the past week and a half. We've gotten quite a few e-mails wondering about Lillie's birthday party this year. (You can see her Cinderella party here, her Twelve Dancing Princesses party here, and her Pink Party here.) We actually didn't have a "real" party for her this year. Instead she chose to go to the Great Wolf Lodge with my sister, Dana, and we had a little cake and some presents at our house with just our family and my two sisters and brother-in-law who were all visiting. I do plan on having a little party with her and some of our neighbors later this month or next that if we do I will post pictures of that. I did take some photos of her cake (I was expecting her to request a Barbie or princess cake but she actually requested this cake!) and of her opening a couple of presents and blowing out her candles and seeing how I am behind on all of my recent photos thought I would share them today. This is the same cake that we did this summer but this time we did it with a cream cheese frosting instead of chocolate frosting.

Lola at her Party

Here are a bunch of pictures of the birthday girl shortly before her birthday party on Saturday. We didn't open her gifts or have cake until after dinner so it was dark then and I don't have any good pictures from that. These are all from earlier in the day while we were setting up and the lighting was better (except for the last one of her eating her cupcake). Anyway, here they are:

  I made Lola a birthday crown similar to Lillie's on her birthday, although I attached Lola's to an elastic headband so that it would stay on her head seeing how her hair is still too fine to hold in bobby pins.

I was planning on introducing our Family for the Month for May in this post but I am writing this at 3AM and I don't want to get any of my information incorrect so I will share it either tomorrow or at the start of next week. Also we have two new products we will be introducing next week that I am so excited about! I can't wait to share them once I get the photos edited!

Lola's First Birthday Party

Our little Lola Wren turned one on April 22nd and this past Saturday we had a little party for her. The theme for this party was just kind of a simple mossy/earthy look and I knew I wanted to incorporate a little mini tree swing. I originally had hoped to have kind of a mid summer's night garden party under the tree swing at my parent's house. Unfortunately, as soon as I got to NH I realized the weather was most definitely not going to cooperate. And then I really didn't do as much for the party as I had planned and two of the projects I did do kind of went awry and didn't turn out like I wanted so instead we just kept it really simple. I am pretty sure Lola didn't care. =) Some day I would love to do a little something more with the whole tree swing theme. That was definitely my favorite little feature from this party. 

 We generally try to keep the cost of our parties under $50 so that means using a lot of items and accessories that we already own or making a lot of things. Thanks to the baby's breath poms I went a little over on this one.  I will have a tutorial for those soon (with some tips on what not to do as well - these ones were dried up by the time of the party which was quite disappointing. I wish I had photographed them before - oh well, you learn something new every day, right?) 

I also want to say a big thank you to my family for helping. Even though we kept it pretty simple it still was a lot of work making a little birdhouse, moss wreath, tissue paper flowers, tree swing, cake, cupcakes (two different kinds - poor Lola can't have dairy, wheat, soy or eggs so she had to have a "special" cupcake my mom made just for her), and other desserts and all of the setting up and then cleaning up. And thank you Jamie and Josh for hosting it at your home.

 The bird house as well as the nest and eggs on the side table and nest pillow are subtle nods to Lorelei Wren's middle name.
