Minimalist interior design can be modern and stylish. It doesn’t mean a completely bare look without any form or design. While it is clutter free, spacious and practical offering more free space within the walls of an apartment or condo it is also aesthetically appealing and acceptable.

Though minimalist interiors can be quite a challenge to create, anyone can design a home with minimalist interiors with a little assistance. Here are three minimalist decorating tips that are the foundation of the concept:

# Do away with clutter

Minimalist interiors are open and roomy and the first step would be to remove the clutter. Clutter does not necessarily mean junk. Pieces of furniture that are bulky do not fit in the minimalist theme and they will have to be moved out. Stools, tables, cabinets, random box containers also create clutter and need to be moved out of the room.

It is a good idea to start de-cluttering one room at a time. This approach will let you plan and be organized.

# Follow a color scheme

Minimalist interior designs also focus on colors. The interiors can never be a riot of colors. Hence, be selective when picking colors from the palette. Choose colors that complement the dำcor. If the furnishing is in earthy hues stick to a similar color palette for the rest of the interiors. The walls, floor and tiles should be in similar earthy tones. Do not bring in too much color as it will detract from the minimalist dำcor. While contrasting shades can be used, colors that stand out should be avoided. Colors should merge harmoniously into each other.

# Balance the design

Minimalist interiors need a balancing act. This implies that nothing in a room should be overtly over powering. A minimalist design does not call for an objet d’art in the space that could draw attention. Instead the entire decor in the room should be subtle.

These are basic rules around which minimalist interiors are designed. The trick is in keeping the decor simple.
