Easter Treatster: Brigadeiro (3-Ingredient Brazilian Fudge!)

So if you were wondering what I was going to bring you back from Brazil, this is it! And just in time for Easter, too, if you find yourself in a pinch for a dessert! There are only 3 ingredients that you may very well have around your house, so even if you're not in a pinch - no excuses! You can't pass this deliciosity up.

This dessert is called brigadeiro, and it comes in all different

Rediscovering New Orleans

We've been back in New Orleans for a couple days already and it's simultaneously as if we were never gone and as if we've dropped into a whole new city. There is so much to rediscover, and so much to discover for the first time! Mostly new foooooooood. I have an employment prerequisite for spending all my money, though, so it's time to get down to business and get into business!

EYE SEE YOU

Oh yes I dooo!!! Or my legs do (see you!). You see, when it comes to tattoos, I like the ones that make people do a double-take. And I like that I can wink at people without even making eye contact (MAGIC!). Also, meet my newest and reddest shoes - I finally dived into the loafer game! Spotted them at Iguatemi the other day for R$50 (~USD$25) and how could I resist?

Haute Halloween

I’d be remiss if I made jaunt down to New Orleans and didn’t share bestie R’s house decked out in Halloween couture.  As always, he’s masterfully decked out his gorgeous Uptown home in holiday finery.

Isn’t it just grand!?!?  Now, I’ve got to get cracking…apparently our Halloween witch left a bunch of I.O.U.s while I was away :-)

We wrapped up our annual visit with besties R and J in the Big Easy doing what we do best - shopping, eating and sipping.  We headed to our collective favorite part of the city to hit up some of our favorite shops in the country - Magazine Street!!

New Orleans: Day 2

Day 2 in the Crescent City kicked off with a divine brunch, bloody mary bar and live music at Atchafalaya in Uptown.

Afterwards we went on an all day shopping tour of some of bestie R's fave haunts, including Little Miss Muffin in Lakeview, The Plant Gallery (Home and Garden Store) in Metairie and The Garden Gate in old Metairie. Back in Uptown, Monique and Magazine Street pup Ping were dolls to open up their shoppe and wrap up our Art for Arts Sake Oysteria purchases for the flight home.

After doing a little tour of some gorge Halloween decor and a couple of hours unwinding on bestie R's front porch, we headed to the much anticipated La Petite Grocery for supper. It was a convivial meal with divine food and loads of the kind of laugh till you cry stories that seem to define our times with these guys!

Tomorrow will be spent on Magazine Street y'all!!!

New Orleans: Day 1

Sister and I have arrived in New Orleans for our annual shopping, dining and cocktailing spree with bestie R (of the Uptown Acorn) and bestie J.

After quite a debacle getting out of Atlanta (think missing flights, losing my shoes in security, encountering an ice cream sales man, getting stuck next to another telling awkward off color jokes) and whiling away our morning at the XpressSpa (a unsuspected slice of heaven amongst a gazillion news stands and $10 luxury shop), the boys whisked us directly to one of our fave shoppes Mitch's and the home of Oysteria!

We did an extensive tour of their gorg home, soaking up all of the new purchases and tweaks since our last December visit, and then caught up over cocktails in their parlor.

Supper was an exquisite affair at Clancy's on Annunciation Street. The French Creole eatery is undeniably a New Orleans institution!

After supper we headed back to Oysteria for their Art for Arts Sake festivities. We spent a lively late evening choosing a few new pieces to add to our collection and enjoying the company of Oysteria proprietoresses Monique and Leslie.
