Lucketts Spring market
Just a quick post to let you know Lucketts Spring Market will be held this year on May 21-22. Last year was so much fun and I found lots of great vintage items. This year should be even bigger and better with 170 vendors.
Lucketts store is so wonderful that I have been known to drive two hours just to visit. The store will be open during the Spring Market. If you are anywhere near Leesburg, Va. this is a wonderful antique and vintage market.

A Mantel For Summertime
After seeing some beautiful mantel change ups for the upcoming summer, I decided I had to get in on the fun.
(You know how I love to move stuff around and “shop” from around my house)
I decided to move my gorgeous blue green Goodwill wine bottles from their home on my bench and let them be my focal point on the mantel itself.
I could have stopped with the bottles for pure simplicity, but I am a layering kind of girl so of course I had to layer.
Wait a minute…I have to go back a step.
I want to make sure you notice my great old shutter. It was black and in my attic until last night when the power went out and I got motivated to move things around. Yep, I painted by candle light.
I hung some twine on it and then pinned up some French book pages I had bought. I have no idea what they say but I know one says a word that looks like romance…hmmm. I just hope they are all nice.
I love little details like that little vintage key hanging from that book page.
This is my brother and me. He’s one of my heroes.
My sweet husband and his twin brother sit beside a pair of hubby’s little baby shoes. I figured they stayed untied most of the time anyway so I decided to keep them that way. I love them and all of there little scuff marks.
I love this new summer look.
So fresh, so airy.
Do you change your mantel up for the seasons?
I used to not be able to, but now that I use a lot of white, I am able to be so much more versatile and I love it.

Cape Town designer Gregory Mellor
A few weeks ago I discovered the beautiful interiors of Gregory Mellor. Gregory is a native South African but has traveled extensively. Having lived in Cape Town, Sydney and even in London influenced his work. His interiors reflect a combination of international styles and influences, seamlessly fused together to create an effortlessly chic and overall effect.
In Cape Town he worked on several homes across the Atlantic Seaboard and the exclusive Southern Suburbs.

In 2009 Gregory formed his own Design Studio in Sydney, Australia and early 2011 he returned to his hometown Cape Town, South Africa to expand his business, allowing him to access the best of both South African and Australian interior design resources.
I do love these beach house interiors.

Dressing Up For Summer
I wanted to make some changes in our family room and bring in some summer decor. This gorgeous canvas art piece from Easy Canvas Prints was just what I was looking for. I have always loved this vintage shell print from the The Graphics Fairy so when Megan of Easy Canvas Prints offered me a free canvas I knew immediately what print I wanted to use.
Putting this print on canvas was no easy job because of the odd size and me wanting to keep the printed text on the top and bottom. Megan worked wonders and achieved just the look I wanted. The photos don't come close to showing you how vibrant the colors are. Thank you Easy Canvas Prints for this wonderful

I love the canvas with the transferware and urn of shells. It definitely feels brighter and lighter in the family room. Now I am working on the mantel. This is always a challenge because the mantel piece is so narrow that it is impossible to layer things. It always feels to me like a row of little soldiers all lines up.
I recently won a $50.00 gift certificate to Every Patio Furniture from Stacy at Red Door Home. The other giveaways I have won have all been more for me. My hubby is excited this time to pick out some new grill accessories for him. I am such a fan of Stacy and her blog. The urn is freshly painted and I added a glaze and a combination of brown and red paint to create the rust spots. My hubby says the shell bottle I made looks like an alien from the side!
Added a couple of antique architectural pieces.
