Election Night Dinner {The Plan}

With just three days till E-Day, I cannot wait to let the littles stay up late and watch the votes roll in on November 6!!  I'm planning an easy peasy themed supper for the night's events and wanted to go on and share all the planning details in case y'all would like to join in on the merriment!

Decor – I’m going to pull out left over Independence Day flags, plates, napkins and such to set a festive table.

Eats – We’ll be dining on “bipartisan” pizza – half veggie and half meat.  Dessert will likely be Donkey Tails and Elephant Ears made from our favorite Cinco de Mayo churros recipe.  (I'll twist the Donkey Tails and roll up the Elephant Ears.)

Drinks – I think we’ll whip up a Star Spangled Sipper, something like this.  (Read the instructions because it's somewhat of a science experiment to boot!)

Activity – I’m going to print or draw out a large blank map of the USA and have the littles color in the states with red or blue as the polls close.  Since the PCP loves math so much, I think we’ll also keep some sort of tally of each state’s electoral votes and how many each candidate needs to get to the coveted 270.  This site has a great explanation for kids.

I put together a little menu and table cards for our affair and they are available for free download through the link below.  As always, if you have trouble just let me know!
Election Night

And, in the spirit of election night, I’ll leave you with a little conversation overheard the other day (I am in no way trying to incite a political debate.  Rather, this was just SO representative of their personalities I couldn’t not share) …

John: I’m cheering for Mitt Romney.
Whit: Why? I’m cheering for the Falcons.

*rolls on floor laughing*
