Flashback Friday {Holy Birthday Batman}

When the PCP was turning five, he had two requests... to have a Batman theme and to have his celebratory affair at the playground.  While the former was easy peasy, the later was a little challenging seeing as his late November birth date was very iffy for an outdoor fete.  And though we ended up with the coldest, windiest day of the year at the playground, rest assured that it didn't put even the slightest damper on the little's fun.  (Though it had me in quite a tail spin as all my decorations kept flying off the table.)

The playground was free, I DIY'd the invites, cupcakes and decorations, and I lucked out with party favors in the Target dollar bin, bringing the tab for the entire party to less than thirty dollars.  We were left with money to splurge on a huge and extremely successful surprise...Batman himself!
I printed out an enlarged version of the cupcake topper and glued on a remnant of ball fringe for the party hat.
To make the "Bat Brew" the boys loved dropping in the new Kool-Aid fizzing tablets into their water bottles.
I found the notebooks, crayons and pens in the dollar bin at Target.  Total cost per favor = $1.30!  The pennant banner said John Is 5!  Sadly, I didn't get a good picture of it.
Batman and the Birthday Boy - Mother made the outfit.
Make a wish - cupcake topper on clearance at Target.
Ahhh, they look like such babies...and that was only a year ago.
xoxo
