Today I held tight my bright, precocious, somewhat silly and extremely strong willed SIX year old. Each year on his birthday I try to ingrain in my memory the sheer essence of him. His dark lashed eyes, his quirky single dimple, his wiry frame, his sweet baby teeth, his unbounded energy, his innocent compassion, his extreme confidence and his theatrical antics. He's something else. And I love him with all of my heart.
While he sweetly slumbered, Mother and Honey helped dot the floor of his precious "big boy" room with balloons and the door with streamers.Birthday pancakes on the birthday plate seemed fitting for man of the hour. We all played his favorite meal time game...the Gather Round. Inside the sweet cupcake, a darling gift from bestie S and family tradition around these parts, was a clue that sent the PCP around the house on a scavenger hunt for Pokemon cards while Honey, Mother and I worked on breakfast!!
Mimi did the honor of handling our birthday reading of Dr. Seuss's Happy Birthday to You.
Another much too tall tick was added to the hallway growth chart.
The angel received two gifts - one for now and one for forever. Number six brought a Falcon's jersey and a John Derian tray.
After a fab afternoon at the GT v UGA football game and a quick Small Business Saturday shopping pit stop, we wrapped up our marked day at Chuck E. Cheese, the PCP's party locale of choice.
And, last but not least, the birthday boy requested to sleep in Mommy and Daddy's bed on his special day. There's no better end to a grand day than falling asleep with my first born snuggled next to me.
Happy birthday, baby. I love you to the moon and back and again.
xoxo
