What's My Gift? Can You Tell Me?

My mother always gets me the neatest gifts.

It used to be new stuff that I wanted, but I no longer ask for new.  Now, I ask for vintage, old, antique, weathered...whatever you want to call it.  I guess the older I get, the more I like old stuff.

She got me a couple of really unique items for my birthday and one I want to ask you about.

It's probably something simple, but just curious if you know what this was used for...

It has Capacity 5 Liquid Gallons stamped into it.  It was hard to figure out what it said, but my smart mama took a piece of paper and a pencil and shaded over the wording and it came out more clearly on the piece of paper.  Very wise woman she is.

So, tell me what it is if you know...

Now, on to my other gift that I think is so awesome.

Love this chalkboard easel with all of it amazing scrolling information.

The piece at the top scrolls through all kinds of neat info.

I have to show you a little of what it shows, but I won't bore you with all of it.

Look with me...

Is this not a totally neat piece?  What is your opinion on it?  Have you ever seen one?  Do you have any idea how old it might be?

I would love this any way, but I especially do because I homeschool.  Just seems to fit in my house.

And, this is my sweet, pretty mama.

Thanks for any info you can share with me about my new gifts.

Happy Birthday to a Very Special Person

I don't know when you will see this but I (Keith) wanted to be the first to wish you a Happy Birthday before anyone else does. :D

SO...

and we are VERY VERY glad that you dont look like him!

We all love you very much and hope you have a fun and relaxing day.

Love Keith, Beth, and Faith (Especially Keith!) ;)

green is gorgeous, white is beautiful......

there are so many beautiful things in the world.......i am just constantly amazed at this, the beauty all around us. it never ceases, it always is there for us.......we should never think the world has gone astray completely. these photos are testatment to the loveliness and gentility that still exists in the world. how i wish i could live this way.......my life is as wonderful and lovely as i can make it with the resources i have but i know if my life were a little different, i might be able to share so much more beauty with others. but, gratitude is a thing of beauty and gentleness as well, so i try to appreciate what is evident in my life. i hope you have things of beauty in your life as well, that inspire you and touch your heart......

Happy Early Birthday, To Me...

I spent the day today with two of my best friends celebrating my birthday, which is tomorrow.  We had a wonderful lunch of taco soup, homemade bread, and delicious homemade strawberry cake.  (I love anything with strawberries, just in case you ever need to know)

And, not that I am all about the gifts, but I do have to show you what they got me.

This little baby was hard to take pictures of, so I did my best.

Don't you love it?

As always, I am not certain that this will be a permanent home.  I have to play around with her a little bit, but I wanted to go ahead and show you what my sweet friends had gotten me.

These ladies know me oh so well.  Thanks, Daffney and Veronica.

And, thanks to the sweet girls who made me a lovely birthday card with very kind words.  I am always humbled by thoughtfulness like that.

Off to the drive-in tonight to see Toy Story 3 with the family.  We will have our lawn chairs, blankets and big stereo with speakers so we can hear the movie outside of the van.  Wish you could all meet us there for a large Diet Dr Pepper, popcorn and some good clean movie watching.

Peaceful, earthy tones interiors

First of all , I want you to know, dear readers and blogfriends, that I am so busy this week, that I really don’t have so much time to blog! So to my blogger colleagues, I would say : ”Sorry that I didn’t comment your posts these days, but I will be back within a few days to read your blogposts” and to all my readers who emailed me : ”Sorry I didn’t emailed back to you yet, but I will within a few days.”!

I am working on a project and today I was going through my files, searching for inspirational images !

I thought it could be nice sharing some of the images which inspired me for some reason.

The images are all of very peaceful interiors and you will notice earthy and sandy tones.

I hope you will be inspired as much as I am!

Another Trip To the Flea Market...

98 degree heat, concrete, shopping, and seven year old girls don't mix.

How do I know?

I took my youngest daughter with me to the Nashville Flea Market on Friday and left after an hour and a half.   The heat, the walking, the people were more than she could take.

I did find a few things that I had to have (actually wanted).

LOVE my bench!!!

Got a shopping cart for Faith that she had eyed.  (it will be great for yardsaling and flea markets for mama)

See my little little wooden door back there?  Why do I love that little thing so much?  Really...I just think that it is great.  It's the perfect size with the perfect little rusty lock on it.  It will not be painted, just cleaned up a little before it comes inside and takes it place in a perfect spot.

Yes, I love these things also.

For a very quick trip, I think I did pretty good.  What do you think?

Oh yeah, and I bought a very small lemonade for Faith that cost $3.00. Good grief at the price, but it got me a few extra minutes of shopping so it was worth it.
