Cake Tin

Vintage Ribbon

In less than a week we are leaving for Orlando, FL to take the kids to Disney World! My question is: Has anyone been to any of the Flea Markets there? If so, which one is the best? Also, are there any good thrift stores? I looked up and found Flea World, but not sure how well any of these are....so any help is appreciated!
Also, I wanted to give a big Thank you to each and every one of you! A Thank you for visiting here and for leaving such sweet comments! You girls really make the whole blogging thing worth while! I have learned and discovered so much...it's amazing!

Art meets architecture

Yesterday, Jan and I were invited by a building contractor to vist their newest model residence. A beautiful English country house constructed of brick covered with lime mortar and oak wood frame, covered with roof tiles.

A water colour of the house.

It was the first time that we were invited to a presentation of a house of which the interior was not finished yet! Only the construction was finished.
But to me it was a splendid idea because the house is for sale now and so the future owners will have the ability to choose the interior design and flooring after their wishes.
Hopefully the new owners will choose for my company Lefèvre Interiors for the interior design!

The entrance of the house.

The backside of the house.

Notice the bow that is formed by roof tiles!

Beautiful window.

Outside, on a board, there were seen pictures from the start to the finished construction.
Very nice to see!

Picture of that beautiful window, view from the inside.

Inside the house you could study the plans of the house.

A fantastic idea of the contractors was, that they brought in some pieces of furniture to create some atmosphere in the house! Wonderful really, as you can see on the pictures here below.

On the invitation card was mentionned "Art meets architecture".
And indeed there was the presence of an art dealer with some wonderful pieces of art!

New paintings......

here are 3 of my newer paintings.......i am really painting a lot, lately. i sold the last painting (the one of the mountain scene) to a girl from New York. i was so excited!! i have sold so many pieces of my little fairy furniture over the past 20 years and that is always thrilling to me, too, but since i am relatively new at painting, i am so humbled by someone appreciating my paintings enough to actually buy one. i've really sold a lot of paintings over the summer. it's such a surprise! we've been doing the Farmer's Market here and we've just had such a great experience!!
i have been thinking a lot about my blog lately.....wondering how i can make it better, be motivated to post things more often, make my blog more interesting so more people will visit and enjoy it......i wish i had more of theme that i could focus on. we recently went to see the film Julie and Julia......mike and i just loved it. such a great film. but what i liked about it most of all was that Julie, a woman who really appreciated Julia Child......decided to write totally about the cooking of Julia Child. she decided to cook one of her recipies from her cook book for an entire year, or until she had prepared every recipe. i just thought it was so great that she had a goal or a real project she was working on with her blog.....so that gave her a reason to post every day!! i guess i mostly want to post about something special that will interest readers enough that they will want to visit my blog every day. i love the friendships and the appreciation and the closeness i feel to people with my blog, but i just don't hear from enough people. i need to make my blog more unique and significant. anyway......i have some ideas, but still mulling them around.
i love so many blogs. i spend at least an hour or more a day visiting all the blogs i just love. i am so thankful for all of them, the beauty each person shares and their innovative, creative and amazing ideas......i don't know what i'd do if i couldn't visit these incredible beautiful worlds!!
thank you all of you!
more later. hope to hear from someone. i appreciate anyone who visits and especially who comments. i spend so much time by myself at our gallery or at home, any comments i receive just bring me so much joy!! thank you!
have a happy weekend!

Engravings of bunches of grapes

This week I told you about the Castle of Leeuwergem where I discovered the company Lex Antiqua , that sells beautiful engravings.
To me, engravings are real pieces of art.
So I fell in love with these 4 engravings of bunches of grapes.
These are dated 1820 and hand-coloured bij English craftsmen.
Now I just have to find the right frames for them, and then I will hang them at home in our orangerie.

This picture I took yesterday. A bunch of grapes of my own grapevine.

The grapevine growing at the wall of our orangerie. Gorgeous isn't it?
I am so proud of it!
